Worcester, Massachusetts – On Saturday, July 23, 2016, over 200 community members, government officials, and leaders attended the 4th Annual African Youth Excellence Awards. The event was hosted by African Youth Excellence, Inc. (AYE), a nonprofit dedicated to highlighting the accomplishments of African youth. The ceremony recognizes Pursuers, young Africans aged 18 - 35 pursing outstanding projects to better their communities in the fields of art, education, information technology, entrepreneurship, innovation, and humanitarianism.
Of the 14 young leaders chosen as Pursuers, eight youth won in their respective categories:
Young African in Art: Dennis Owusu-Ansah
Young African in ICT: Kristen Ransom
Young African Scholar: Deborah Opeyemi Ayeni
Young African in Public Service: Mary Olushoga
Young African in Leadership: Farida Bemba Nabourema
Top African Organization: iNERDE
Top High School: Kenneth Adusei and Felicite Mbaimaki
All the Pursuers also received a Certificate of Excellence from Massachusetts Senator, Michael Moore. This honor congratulated each Pursuer for their work towards the betterment of Africa.
The keynote speaker for the event was Anas Aremeyaw Anas and Abraham Attah as special guest. United States, Senator Elizabeth Warren, also sent a congratulatory message to all our pursuers for their outstanding work and commended AYE its work towards improving the lives of young Africans.
